Who was the first Christian people?

It was widely acknowlaged that Armenia was the first christian nation, and the Armenians where among the first Christians under a national church in large numbers, however I see Assyrians say they where the first Christians people. I am Armenian, and would like to have this cleared up, as until now, I've always thought it was Armenia.
