Chapstick went through the wash?

Ok, well all off my chapsticks are in the habit of hiding in my pockets then going through they wash and maybe the dryer. My question is if it is still safe/ok to use? A friend of mine said no because it might have "trapped" some of the germs and dirt after it was washed off the clothes, is this true? Would it be ok to use anyways? would it feel/look/work the same? I know I can just go buy another one, but I'm kinda cheap, and there are 5 ones just sitting on the washing machine... I also heard something about microwaving? would that cause chemicals from the plastic to leach? Wow, ok that was long... well any help is appreciated and it's ok if you don't answer all my q's as I was rambling, So thanks in advance! :)
